Barvy Richelieu Red Collar

Richelieu cutwork is made entirely by hand. The motif is first outlined in dense buttonhole stitch, then the fabric inside each shape is cut away by hand — one opening at a time — and the open spaces are joined with hand-worked thread bars. Every edge of the openwork is finished by hand; nothing is machine-punched or laser-cut. It is one of the most labour-intensive embroidery techniques, and it is what gives this collar its lace-like structure.
